Constant Revolution

Transit - Constant RevolutionWe started a new series in Transit last night - Constant Revolution. We are looking through the reality that we are all part of a revolution that will not stop. In it we as Christ followers are looking to be like those swells far out in the ocean that move towards the coast and become huge waves that crash the beach of culture - to tear away at the lies that have consumed the world.

We talked about the danger of both sides of our church doors - the danger of being inside and being too comfortable…and the danger of being outside and being too comfortable. Somehow we are called to live in the tension between the two.

Thanks to the team who set up everything in less than 30 minutes last night…you guys really make stuff happen!

Be for Rather than Against

How Creative Month
I read an interesting thought today that I believe applies to the church.

“Be for rather than against”

The advice actually was targeted towards creative types looking to expand their creative potential and learn to rethink projects, but what a great point. I think we may struggle with this at times because we don’t spend enough time realizing all that Christ followers can actually be “for”.

What comes to mind when you think of what a Christ follower is for?

And for the creatives among us - the rest of the advice for this month is online HERE.

Amazing Race

Amazing Race

Last night the game was played - and played well. There were 7 teams (and one to rule them all)…they ran/drove from the church to Azalea Park, McDonald’s in Goose Creek, Frankie’s Fun Park (to climb the wall or drive the carts) then on to Piggly Wiggly on 78 - those from outside the South can snicker…Piggly Wiggly is a grocery store. We laugh and we live here.

Anyways, I am working to get some video online - but there are some photos from the Frankie’s Pit Stop at the new Transit Flickr site…click the Flickr stream on the right side of the page to get there.

HUGE THANKS to Wendy for arranging it all, Amy for getting all the clues sealed and organized and to Craig for filming.

** If you were out last night and took some pictures - send them to me and I’ll get them in the mix.

Motivational/Inspirational Video

I found this video and I think it fits nicely given the upcoming topics of potential. The idea of being able to do anything regardless of how positive or negative it might be. It also fits into the concept that our frame of mind is equally important as it can effect our relationship with God.

Anyways, check it out and hopefully you’ll like.

Well, it’s Monday

Quick Haiti update: Those going to Haiti presented the trip to the two services at Faith Assembly yesterday morning and the response was incredible.

ALL of the water filtration systems are now spoken for and additional money was given for the truckload of food as well. There are shirts Haiti Needs our Help shirtbeing sold for $20 (of which $17 goes towards the Haiti trip). So pick one up at the church or email me if you would like to order one.

Don’t forget that you can give online anytime using the button on the right side of the page - and you can get more info on the Transit assist page. The next thing we need to knock out is the food truck that we are working to purchase for this country that is starving. So please give all you can.

And for those who need an break from the usual office humdrum today - I offer this video:

And not to spiritualize everything - but do you see the church/visitor conundrum anywhere in this?

Watch these guys instead — they rock.
And I opened up the commenting on the site - you don’t have to subscribe just to leave a comment anymore…so leave one!

Adam Hardegree thought on Sheeps and Goats

The thing that convicts me more than anything is when I think about Matthew 25. Its a story about when Jesus comes in all of his glory and everyone is gathered before God. And he begins to separate everyone out to his left and to his right. He says to the people on his right that they are blessed and for them to take their inheritance that the kingdom has prepared for them since the beginning of creation. What a big thought and how awesome is that. And the reason was when he (Jesus) was in need they took care of the need. Then he says “whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Mat. 25: 40) To the people on his right he tells them depart from me you cursed beings and go to hell. What a strong statement and unbelievably scary at the same time. And the reason was he was in need and they did not care. This passage when I think about it bothers me so much and eats away at me. Because if the less fortunate is actually really Jesus as he says in this passage then what the heck am I doing with my life. If I truly love God and that is really Jesus out there in this world not getting food, shelter, and water and I’m worried about things that are so insignificant compared to these basic needs that I take for granite so often. I ask myself am I doing enough. Are we doing everything we can? Sadly for me the answer is NO! I have an incredible opportunity to go to Haiti this summer and live this passage from Matthew 25 out. Honestly when my mindset and focus is helping those hurting and in need out as it will be on this trip then it will be easy to do. You see I know what it looks like when I go on missions trips to live out this passage. But, when I am here in the good old U.S. this passage for me is so hard to live out because my mindset is not the same. In Haiti the needs are going to be right in front me and I won’t be able to miss it. Here in the U.S. the needs are not so in your face but if you look hard they are all around you. So if that is Jesus in need out there what am I going to do? When I leave for Haiti my mindset will be to help the less fortunate, but I hope that my heart and mind can be in tune with the needs around me before I go so that I might go with the right heart and mind. But, also that this mindset will continue when I get back. If I take this passage literally, then what a huge opportunity I have everyday and in Haiti to bless Jesus himself. When I read this passage and think about it I have to do something. We have to do something and open our eyes to the needs of the people around us everyday.
